I have bought many of the books in this series. I use them with my ESOL students and they are an excellent resource.I like the breakdown of "people," "land," and "culture." The books provide a good mix of geography, history, scenery, customs, food, religious holidays, music, food, etc.Good photos, and the writing is strong enough to be of interest to adults but not so heavy that it chases away middle school or high school readers.I also really like the selection of countries. The series includes some of the biggest and best known countries (major European countries like England, Spain, and Italy; China; Brazil; etc.) but it also includes lesser known countries like El Salvador.Excellent series.

This a warm and tender tale of woman trying to adapt to a life that is rather solitary and lonely. Her husband does not initially help because he is not sure of how to help her and goes about his day as if she is not there. Tristan's mother is a work of disparity and whatever anger lays in her heart needs love. The only problem with this story is that it doesn't deal with Tristan's mother's anger.

This story is a nice romance that quietly, gently unfolds in a realistic way. I would give it 4 stars but, it is short and the characters and settings weren't developed as well as a good, longer story would have done. I enjoyed Emma Morgan's short novel and will read more of her offerings. I recommend this book.

As this was the third book that I have read that was written by Emma Morgan , I was expecting to enjoy it, and I was not disappointed!I would indeed definitely recommend that others also read this book. I look forward to reading many more written by Emma Morgan.Â

Kathleen is left alone to take care of her younger sister. She places an add for marriage and Tristan answers it. He is a miner and spends all day in the mine. Kathleen is not sure she has made the right decision. Christmas is coming and she misses her family.

Another story written to inform and entertain which hit its goal with a bang! The characters were well exploited to make this an unforgettable tale!

So enjoyed this story about two lonely people that found romance. So glad they have their two younger sisters to live with them

I really enjoyed the characters in this story and the bravery Kathleen has to travel from New York to Montana.

This was a short, sweet, and clean book. I loved the storyline. I look forward to reading more by this author.

I devoured this book in less than 2 days, as I could not put it down. Unlike so many other books about finding your passion, improving your leadership skills, or time management, Jessica's book resonated with me like no other to date. ( And I read at least one book a week!) She writes beautifully - seamlessly integrating so many personal stories of herself as well as others who have shared amazing stories of inspiration and success. I found this book from a podcast I heard of Jessica. I immediately googled Stella & Dot, which I was unfamiliar with. I have been practicing Orthodontics and growing my business over the past 24 years and have been wanting to start a new business for the next chapter in my life. This book is a short read but a very good one at that. I’m a person who values quality over quantity and unlike other books out there that contain a lot of useless fluff, this book has great step by step content. The author really knows what he’s talking about. Definitely recommend!

This book is short (you can read in about two hours), but it packs a lot of valuable life lessons. It's the book you'll wish you'd read long ago. It's already inspired me to take steps to remove mental blocks in life to reach my potential!

The book has almost nothing to do with mental toughness. Its so touchy feely it hurts. The whole thing can be summarized as I overcame an addiction and started a business. Couple of rah rah positive affirmations and beliefs. Overall very little substance and could get better info from Google. Big disappointment

Short overview of getting back up after feeling defeated and a basic guide to building self esteem. There were many opportunities for this author to go in depth with various ideas he presented, but kept it at a 6th grade reading level of an extended introduction paragraph.This is a good book for those just graduating highschool and wondering what to do next. However, this isn't helpful for someone who has already dealt with the real world with the realization that you do not get what you want unless you push toward it.

Excellent, quick read. Hung Pham clearly outlines his method for overcoming self defeating beliefs, building a foundation for success and persisting through failures and challenges. Written from his own personal experience, Pham speaks to many who struggle to stake their claim and inspires that it is possible to develop mental toughness skills to reach their own success. Highly recommended for an uplifting and clarifying experience.

Unlike other books I’ve read on Amazon, this book doesn’t beat around the bush. The author gets right to the point of why we create mental barriers and how we can break them by using this 12 step program. It’s an excellent book, I’m happy with my purchase.

This is an important text for any student of Carmelite spirituality. This book contains the records of Saint Theresa during the years in which she was establishing new convents throughout Spain (she established or reformed nearly 200 convents in just 9 years), and details what she did, how she did it, and the many lessons she learned along the way. It is really quite an adventure to read; to learn about each unique challenges that each new convent posed, and the many protagonists and antagonists she encountered in her journeys. Early on, it becomes immediately evident that hardship and trial is part-in-parcel of such a lofty mission, as it almost always accompanied the foundation of each new convent. In this sense, it is really quite a unique lesson is abandonment to divine providence.The book also details a vast array of personalities who helped the saint along the way, as well as some insight into the character of her nuns. She writes liberally about the good qualities of the good people, and complains little of the bad. Rarely does she ever speak about herself, but instead, we get in depth character analyses of her many benefactors, seeing how prominent a role they played. In this sense, the book is also a lesson on just how much God uses other people to bring about His plans.I particularly enjoyed reading what she writes about her nuns, and how saintly and obedient they were (such as when she tested the obedience of a nun by asking her to plant a shriveled up cucumber in the ground. The nun obeyed with the simplicity of a child, asking whether she wanted it planted sideways or vertically, not even considering that it will never grow.). It is also interesting to read what she writes about Saint John of the Cross, and the friendly competitions they had between convents. Clearly these women were serious about the faith, and were all saints in their own rights, as Teresa notes.The literary value of this book is also quite rare, in that it is not quite a log book, and not quite a diary. She clearly had a sharp intellect, and was a master of prose, with an uncanny ability to say much with few words. Perhaps what most distinguishes the saint is her iron will; to have accomplished so much, in such a short period of time, and with constant illness and suffering.

Totally wonderful! I have read the books in this volume by other translators but Father Kieran Kavanaugh is my favorite translator and with the film on the computer he presents giving slight direction into the understanding of his translation, the writings of this great saint are greatly moving and touching. Father Kavanaugh's volumes and I have all three as well as the Complete Works of St John of the Cross that Father Kavanaugh has translated are very distinguished.

Keirnan Kavanaugh is so very thorough on his translations and his writings of Teresa's work --- she is delightful and full of wisdom and was much before her time.

This book is a must for every Carmelite either Frier,Nun or Secular Member ! Very informative and humorous. The information is very important for those living the Teresian Spirituality. Her book is so simply written it is easy to apply to daily living as a Carmelite. It is a must for all seeking this way of life or wishing to learn about this Great Saint and Doctor of the Church. Though written in the 12th Century it applies to our daily lives today. I have both hard copy and e-Book and prefer E-Books since they can be easily taken anywhere you go. It is a must for those in Formation for the Secular Carmelite Life . It is used in Formation for Seculars! Both book forms, hard copy and e-Book can be purchased at Amazon.

I've deployed IWAN into production for numerous customers both before and after reading this book. This book provides information on the IWAN solution that is easy to understand and easy to implement into your networks. It takes a lot of the important design pieces from the CVD and presents them in an easy to consume manner and also explains the "why" behind the design.Not only does it dive into things like PFR and DMVPN which are the key pieces of IWAN, it also does a great job of offering a fairly detailed explanation of the additional IWAN features like DIA with CWS, WAAS, and other pieces.I would recommend this book to anyone looking to deploy or learn more about the IWAN solution.

A very excellent read. I knew the book would be a good one especially after hearing from the author on Cisco Live. The authors did a good job in explaining PFR, iWAN, DMVPN, DIA but the only big thing which is missing is the integration of iWAN with Prime which has pre existing templates for iWAN for 0 touch provisioning and minimum configurations on the hub and spoke sites. The book must include that to get a 5 start because i am seeing that new deployments of Cisco iWAN is focused on installing Prime template and then tweaking it. More information on Cisco WAAS configuration and management needs to be added as well. But besides that the book is very well written and must to have if you are looking to deploy iWAN for the first time.

A very good book on for network engineer/architect to understanding the architecture behind the IWAN technology. Very detailed explanation with sample configuration.

The much anticipated Cisco Press IWAN book is here. This is another gem from author Brad Edgeworth First there was the well written Cisco Press IP Routing on Cisco IOS XE and IOS XR and now this one. If you are planning to deploy DMVPN, PfR and WAAS this is a must have.Would highly recommend to network engineers and architects who are responsible for deploying and supporting IWAN solutions. Also useful is the VIRL lab files for following along which is available for download. Thank you Brad and team/Cisco Press.

Nice representation of SD-WAN with good examples to deploy in Greenfield and Brownfield deployments. Would be nice to see a chapter on UX being focus of deployments so it makes it easier for deployments. Very good work Jean-Marc, David Prall. Would be nice to see Data Center Deployments.

I found this Barron's series very helpful in my attempts to prepare for a trip to Italy. The title is truth in advertising. These tapes are not for academics or those trying to learn fluency in the language, but instead they are meant for travelers and business people planning a short stay. They provide practical phrases, questions and answers for dining out, making hotel and camping reservations, using public transportation and setting up meetings with people."Getting By In Italian" utilizes a variety of methods to teach and to reinforce learning: imitation/repetition, games, word find puzzles, listening for newly learned phrases in "natural" conversations, and picking out the correct sentence out of several that are recited to you. Rather than relying on rote memory and repetition, it emphasizes picking out things from context -which is far more realistic for most travelers. The variety of methods made these tapes more pleasurable to listen to than either the Fodor's or Pimsleur tapes that I also used.The book that accompanies this set is possibly even better than the tapes. It provides a more complete translation than the tapes do and will serve as a nice reference on my trip.This set does have some weaknesses, however. First, the "natural" conversations (in hotels, restaurants and stores) that they recorded are sometimes very difficult to hear. You have to turn the volume way up and then you get BLASTED when the narrator comes back on.These tapes provide the correct pronunciation for a given phrase only once. The listener repeats it, but most of the time the phrase is not repeated a second time. Most other tapes will provide correct pronunciation more than once and expect the listener to repeat more than once as well. As a result, it helps to have a good ear and facility for language if using these tapes.Additionally, these tapes work best if you plan to follow along in the book. Some of the translations are not provided on the tape and the games usually require that you circle a correct answer or look at some written options that are before you. As a result, if you plan to listen to the tapes mostly in the car, you will definitely miss out on some things.At the same time, most people learn languages better if they can use more than one sense (i.e. just hearing.) Visual cues help to reinforce learning, so you're better off if you use both the book and the tape at the same time anyway. (Just not as convenient for those of us who like to listen in the car. The Pimsleur tapes - which have other weaknesses - are better for that.)Finally, the narrator is British, which is fine, but the American listener will have to pay close attention and translate certain phrases for themselves (i.e. "lift" for elevator and "power point" for electrical outlet.)All in all, I was satisfied with these tapes and so were my friends who tried them. The value for the price was also better than other tapes I purchased.

After having used the "Getting by in French" and "Getting by in Spanish" with enthusiasm, I found the "Getting by in Italian" version very disappointing. Both the French and Spanish versions have an uplifting musical accompaniments to splice the different sections, and both the French and Spanish versions each have two narrators/hosts/teachers who banter back and forth with each other to make the learning more fun and make the material more retainable. However, on the Italian version, there is only one narrator, and she is slow and deliberate, as if she's reading from a script and she constantly refers the listener back to the book. I could not keep my attention easily focused on the speaker because her speech was too slow. I also found the French and Spanish versions nice because I could use them in the car or while doing household chores. This was not so easy to do with the Italian version because of the narrator's constant reference to the book.

We found the tapes to be extremely useful. We learned enough Italian to "get by" during our trip to Italy. We have lent the tapes to many of our friends.
