The Everything Mother of the Bride Book does a good job of summing up the responsibilities of the role of the MOB, as the book calls the Mother of the Bride. This book seems to cover all of the important details of the Mother's responsibilities, and weaves this into a readable story that takes you through the whole wedding. I was very happy with this book because it provided what I needed. We were about 1/3 into the wedding planning, and I needed something which summarized the primary responsibilities that I would have. The book also provides commentaries and details about other aspects of the wedding, as somehow, for the mother of the bride, almost everything involved in the wedding touches upon her family. There has been nothing that I have found that would be lacking in this book as it relates to what every mother planning or participating in her daughter's wedding need to know.

It is a great book. This is the first time that I have a daughter getting married, and I have no idea what the Mother of the Bride does for her wedding. So that is why I bought the book,and it is very helpful to me already and I only read 5 pages so far. Even my daughter is using some information in my book. She and her fiance are hosting their wedding, and she is using an example of an wedding invitation in the book as a guide for their wedding invitation. And I am also buying "The Everything Guide for the Groom" in October to give him it for a Christmas gift, so he knows what the groom is to do for his wedding. Lynn Oller

This is my second purchase of this book. One for my mom and one for my Aunt (I'm the maid of honor for my cousin's wedding). Both of them read it front to back and said it was super helpful!

I'm going to be a MOB (Mother of the Bride) next April and am so excited ... this is a fantastic book to that includes everything one needs to consider in helping my daughter and her fiancÃ© and his family plan the most important day of their lives and am so glad I found it just after my daughter became engaged!

Very technical and geared toward more elegant, upscale weddings. Before I tried to do a wedding on scale that this book is geared towards, I would just hire a wedding planner. Never would I attempt all of this on my own.

Very traditional in the write up of all the wedding planning. If your daughter wants that type of wedding, it's very helpful. If not, forget it.

Another helpful book of tips for MOBs. Just one of several I've been perusing. Not really a stand-alone book, but a nice additon to a wedding reference group.

Therefore, most of what we know about Eridu's history comes from sometimes fragmentary accounts found in other, later-established Mesopotamian cities. Nevertheless the author(s) of this book have put together a very readable, if partly speculative, account of the likely history and sociology of this first temple/city of the Ubaid/Uruk/Sumerian culture. Perhaps the only significant omission is any discussion of slavery. After all, someone had to haul all that water from the irrigation canal up to the pleasant gardens of delights.I would also have liked to see more discussion of the known relative dating of the ziggurat ruins, perhaps using the pottery methods. In particular, a comparison of the dates and sizes of the ziggurats at Uridu and Babylon (which is the one referenced in the Biblical Genesis) would have been of interest.

Eridu marks a transition phase when humans effectively may have used competitive advantage to gain command and control over their fellow men. This radical change transformed the Ubaid Civilization into the social framework we know as Sumer Civilization. The text discloses sufficient of the Mesopotamian story for a reader to deduce that the leadership style of a primordial Sumerian King bears resemblance to modern tyrants that misused deception and perception management during crises to bring into play their rhetorical and propaganda skills presenting the â€œSelfâ€ as one requiring inhumane obedience from the labor force. It's ok for an introduction, but AWS changed parts of the interface so the screenshots didn't match exactly.

Very high level. I was looking to use this for obtaining my learning for AWS Certified Solutions Architect This book does not have enough depth.I've used the following which I find to be much better:Book -AWS Certified Solutions Architect Official Study Guide: Associate Exam - Excellent guide with the right amount of depthLearn Amazon Web Services in a month of lunches - by David Clinton - Very high level. Only a few pages cover VPN where all of the other guides provide a lot more depth. If you want a quick, high-level overview, this may be the book for you. If you want to know it in depth or pass the AWS Certified Solutions Architect, then skip this book.VideosAWS Certified Solutions Architect by Ryan Kroonenburh - You can find this on acloud.guru or udemy. This is a pretty good intro and overview. I colleague of mine used just this and said it wasn't enough to pass the exam.AWS Certified Solutions Archicted by DolfinEd / Eissa Sherif on Udemy - Lots of depth. I would have provide it more concise but he definitely cover its in depth

Clinton offers a well thought out learning experience with this book, rather than just a list of instructions. First he helps you build a base of knowledge, then he helps you build on top of that. Itâ€™s not just about looking up how to do a particular thing, though you can certainly use it that way if you are familiar with AWS and just need to reference something particular.This book isnâ€™t over-full of pictures, because that isnâ€™t necessary, but when a picture is useful, itâ€™s included.After helping the reader learn how to use the basic structure of AWS and some of itâ€™s most useful features, the last two chapters address that fact that AWS is huge and look at how to proceed past what is offered directly in this book.This book offers an excellent way to get a good solid start with AWS and may be all you need; if not, itâ€™s still a great foundation for the rest of your learning.

But David Clinton (and his large team of manuscript reviewers, helpers and editors) wisely keep this book focused on a dozen or so services that a growing small business can put to use. The author introduces "core AWS tools" and then expands the focus to becoming a "power user" adept at "optimizing your infrastructure." Finally, he challenges you to figure out what else you can do with AWS once you are familiar and comfortable with some of the 50 or so services that appear on the main menu (which leads, of course, to more menus and more services). One of the strengths of this book is that it keeps a good focus on "principles and practices of AWS deployment, rather than exactly where on a page you are supposed to click." And, to me, it meets its goals of introducing readers to "the way AWS tools work" and giving readers "practical, hands-on AWS skills that will allow you to build your own simple, reliable, secure web services." To his credit, David Clinton does not try to dissuade his readers from checking out AWS's key competitors, Google Cloud Services and Microsoft Azure. And he doesn't insist that everything has to be put on the cloud. There are still many valid cases for using local servers or creating systems that are "half-local, half-cloud," and so forth, he contends. David Clinton's new book is a well-written, well-illustrated guide to deploying projects in the AWS cloud, learning how to use a dozen or so of the most popular AWS services, and opening your imagination to what else you can do with AWS to help your business grow.(My thanks to Manning Books for sending an advance reading copy for review.)

As a small business owner, I have managed my IT for over 15 years, including our web site and some PHP and Rails web apps. I had some experience with EC2, but knew I had a lot more to learn.This has been a phenomenal book and I'm amazed at how much I learned. I migrated our website and the PHP app to EC2, migrated our local backup drive to an S3 container (and will probably start using Glacier when I know more about it), and have some ideas about what I'd like to do with our Rails app.One thing that wasn't mentioned that can be extremely helpful is that if you make a Windows server in EC2, you can actually log in using the Remote Desktop Connection feature and you'll have a regular Windows desktop to work with. Our timeclock needs to be hosted on Windows, so I use a small EC2 instance just to host it and I can log in and manage updates and the timeclock software as if it were on the Windows computer on my desk. It's very convenient if you want to get started and avoid using SSH and learning Linux. (It's also possible to load a desktop for Linux on EC2, but definitely not something I'd recommend to someone just starting out!)Overall, a very useful and well-written book. I'll definitely be checking out other books by this author.

Save your money! This book is useless. It describes 100 attractions in Newport, Rhode Island, each on a single page, in huge type, on newsprint paper, with absolutely no helpful detail whatsoever. See my photo for an example of one of the entries. That's literally all you get.I feel like a fool for falling for this rip off. In the days of bricks and mortar bookshops, this would never have ended up in my basket.Learn from my mistake. Full disclosure, I grew up with Tom and he mentions my cousin in his book, (it's not pretty.) That said, being his childhood peer, I wouldn't lie and tell you it was great if it sucked. That's not how people from Norwood are. We tell it like it is. He well captured the feel of growing up in that town, in that era. It was "heartwarming," and if you are a Shillue fan, no matter where you are from you will feel the love as well.I especially liked reading about his father's directive for snow shovelling. My own father was like that.

This book should be mandatory reading for all the teenagers of today. Everyone thought his Dad was the meanest man in the neighborhood and at the end of the book, he told how much he appreciated the way he was raised. I loved this book and would recommend it for all to read.. Funny with a lot of life lesson enclosed. Patriotism, faith, and family values.

So many memories were brought to the surface while reading this book. Like Mr. Shillue, I was raised primarily in the 1970s,which really were not that different a life than had existed for kids over the previous two decades.I am also grateful for the traditional and distinctly American upbringing my parents gave me. Those values are all but extinct these days and it was wonderful to read how those values had benefited others like they did me... and will benefit my children as well.Highly recommended!

Every once in a while I enjoy a light book to relax with. This one did that for me. I felt that I learned about a devout Catholic family and also liked learning about life with a New Jersey city family. It reminded me a little about my childhood. Now I enjoy seeing Tom on TV even more than I did before. He did not try to preach to the reader or make any philosophical statements or compare his life to anyone else. I would guess that his daughters are nice and happy girls

Shillue wrote a very funny book about growing up in the 70's. Structure meant "go outside and play" rather than dance class, t-ball, soccer teams day care--you know, like kids today who seem to have not a minute of being what they want to be and doing what they want, unless it involves electronic devices. Some of the scenes had me laughing out loud and others had me gasping "how did we survive!?" I recommend this to anyone who grew up in that time or around that time and to anyone who can stretch their brains to wonder about their parents' childhood.

I appreciated learning about the day-to-day challenges of Dr. Maxwell's effort to care for the injured Iowa soldiers during the Civil War. This is a good read both about one man's effort and the complicated Sanitary Commission system set up to support the Iowa soldiers. I learned many things I did not know about the Civil War, for example, that due to a poor federal war hospital system, each state, along with volunteers cared for their own wounded. This is a good book to learn about the life of one man, his peers and the politics involved in helping wounded Iowa soldiers during the Civil War. It makes you want to meet with Dr. Archibald Maxwell to discuss his life and times.

Vidyamala Burch is a favorite mindfulness teacher, for me. She lives with chronic pain, and so she is a powerful role model for me, as i also live with debilitating pain. her voice is wonderful, so soothing. her words are full of compassion for self and courage. the meditation disk in this set is always in my CD player, as i use it everyday. i like that her meditations are 10 minutes, so i can listen to one or two or whatever. they are really well-done, and there is no music. the ones she has on youtube all have music. i prefer no music. i just love her! she has helped me so much. her website is great too, just do a google search ( not sure i can mention the name of it here). she still lives in a wheel chair, but she helps me see that i can still be happy, even with a life-changing things like chronic pain.

Excellent program for dealing with either chronic pain or anxiety. I bought a copy for myself a while ago and this one I gave to a friend who's also finding it very helpful in dealing with back pain and anxiety. The accompanying disc contains the guided meditations from each week of the program. I'm actually using it now in an on-line class in Mindfulness for Health offered by the author, Vidyamala Burch. Both she and her co-author have suffered from serious injuries themselves and the program is very well thought out. It's making a difference in my levels of anxiety around my chronic pain - by lowering the resistance to the pain itself and learning how to calm my mind, in turn my life is becoming more bearable. We're only part way through the program at this point but I really find it valuable especially learning how some of our habits create more suffering. The authors teach how to pace ourselves instead of the "boom or bust" cycle common to many who suffer from chronic pain or illness - when we feel a bit better we tend to overdo and end up incapacitated again - I speak for myself but apparently it's fairly common. So we learn how to observe our habits and modify them so that we're able to pace ourselves and suffer less consequences. The book is fairly comprehensive in its approach, not complicated, and so far it's teaching me new skills and habits that I find are very helpful on a daily basis living with chronic pain. My anxiety levels are clearly more manageable now.

I have suffered referred pain from an old neck injury for about six years now. I've given up on the nerve pain drugs that make you too spaced out to do anything, the shots are dangerous, and the PT only takes care of so much. Meditation and Mindfulness are helping me immensely, relax the tense bracing muscles, relax my jaw and reduce my headaches. This seems a much better treatment for me then all the things I've tried before.Excellent book. Very good meditation CD included.

It may be a good book, I have not read it. But BEWARE! The audio meditations are not there for kindle devises and the website for downloads has expired. The publisher has abandoned the project. Must not be selling all that well. Too bad.

I have had seven back surgeries and was suffer from pain for 8 years when a professional recommended this book. I had meditated and done breath work decades ago, but it never occurred to me to utilize it to reduce my suffering. While I still donâ€™t feel fully compassionate toward my pain, most of the book made intrinsic sense to me and I started to feel a difference in just 2-3 weeks. Less suffering, better attitude. Highly recommended.

I purchased the paperback and Kindle version. This book has been helpful. I have had chronic pain for a decade of my life. Easy to read and to download the audio meditation guidelines. The CD is included with the book and web links to download audio are in the book. Helpful rea search and explanations on how the brain pathways are affected by chronic pain. Well worth the price of the books.

This review is not about the book's content but only the Kindle edition with its promise of "audio-video content."The above advertising is misleading. It makes it sound like you will get narration & you don't. I am not sure what if any audio content you DO get - I did not find any whatsoever inside Kindle when I ordered the ebook. I have contacted Amazon requesting to return the book for a refund.

This is an excellent book for using Mindfulness Meditation to address chronic pain issues. The text is eloquent, compassionate and user friendly. I am not through the whole book yet and am already feeling the benefits of doing the meditations. I particularly love Vidyamala Burch's approach to guiding meditations. Knowing that both Authors have used meditation to deal with their own chronic pain issues, lends credibility to the program they offer. I was already practicing Mindfulness Meditation but find this books particular focus on pain management extremely effective and especially helpful to me when I'm stuck,and feeling overwhelmed by my pain. I am grateful for this book and strongly recommend it.

The History of God's World is a book for children, as well as adults. The author gives a beautifully written synopsis story of the main events in history from the Word of God. Then we are led to the most important story of allâ€¦HIS story of redemption through God Himself, the Lord Jesus Christ, who rescued us! The words â€œrescueâ€ and â€œrescuerâ€ are used throughout the book and help us recognize our need to be rescued from somethingâ€¦.the penalty of our sin! Understanding and acknowledging our sin a vital part of bringing us to salvation through believing in the death burial and resurrection of Christ. I was pleased how the author chose and used this word because of how it brought clarity and understanding for the most important decision we can make in life.I found that the authorâ€™s foreward of the book to be an excellent catechism for children to memorize and recite. Also, the epilogue clearly brings understanding to the important truths taught throughout the book and would be ideal topics of discussion for children to share their hearts and ask questions.I would recommend this as a book read often to children through their growing up years, as well as a book for adults who have never had foundational teaching from Godâ€™s Word. Itâ€™s a blessing to have received this as a gift and something I will always have in my library of favorite books.
