Scott Gummer's book is really more a history of "The Golfing Machine" than it is a biography of Homer Kelley, author of TGM. In fact, Homer's bio and the 30 year history of his research and writing of TGM only comprise about 1/3 of the book, the rest is devoted to his efforts to promote his weird and wonderful golf masterpiece, with extended bios of Ben Doyle and Bobby Clampett, and appearances by the usual TGM cast of characters including Tom Tomasello, Mac O'Grady, Brian Manzella, Lynn Blake and others. It's an easy two-evening read and highly recommended for golf nuts, especially for anyone who's ever tried to read The Golfing Machine and wondered at its strangeness and complexity.

Great read for those who have a burning passion regarding history of golf science and its application to golf teaching. The connections made between a lone eccentric (Homer Kelly) who fashioned this science and its adoption among professional players and teachers who followed is fascinating. Even more interesting is that one can go to youtube.com and see these principles taught by those involved with promoting and incorporating it as a most valuable science. I was particularly taken with the science of the two main hinges of the golf swing. Always wondered why good players were looking back at their backswing position and down at their hand position at contact. What were they looking for? This book is a companion book to Omar Kelley's unorthodox book...The Golfing Machine". If you liked that one, you'll appreciate this one. It takes the reader through the difficult stages of development of Omar's journey to produce the book and how it affected others when it was written. A very good read.

I actually thought I was buying the book "The Golfing Machine" but realized early in the read, it was the history of Homer Kelly, Ben Doyle and the history of its beginnings! Really and excellent well written book. A must read for all serious students of the golf swing! Thanks!!!

I am not sure what the point of this book was supposed to be but I learned nothing aside from learning the life story of Homer Kelley.

This is a very interesting read for golfers. The story is quite compelling on one man's vision to teach better golf through science.

I read the reviews that this was easy... but it really is simple. There are only two things to find on each page. I bought this for a barely-2-year-old and this book offered no challenge...This book would be probably be best for introducing the concept of the book to younger than 2 years old or kiddos with short attention spans that won't be interested in sitting long enough to find more items I'm very glad I didn't go nuts and buy a ton of these beginner I Spy books.

This is one in a series of one of the best children's books available. They begin with a young child's abilities and grow to capture the curiosity and persistence of an adult sleuth dedicated to solving the problem. The idea is to locate items on a page of colorful and intricate designs, becoming more detailed and complicated as the series progresses. I used these books with all three of my children from their early toddler years onward. We would lie down together and "compete" to find the spool of thread, or the birthday candle or the daisy chain, and this was so much fun that we continued in these quests even into and beyond their college years on their visits home. The intricacy grows with the child.

These smaller I Spy books are just cropped parts of the full I Spy books. Just buy the big ones and do age specific things with your kids instead of limiting the longevity of your book. My 2.5 year old loves I Spy books but this easy version never gets asked for.

We have 3 “I spy” mini books from Chick-fil-a. They are fun as my 3 (now 4) year old has loved them. I thought this larger version would be great and better since it’s normal book size.It is not great. A one year old might enjoy “finding” the huge thing that is right in front of your face.Also the picture quality is t as good as the mini books. Very disappointing.

The description says that it’s for up to five year olds, but honestly, this book is fit for two and three year olds. 4 & 5 year olds are quick enough for the original i spy’s. I wà disappointed by this book but we love the original series.

The riddles in this book are extremely easy. There are two or three items to find per picture, and the items are often the largest thing on the page. My 2 year old daughter spent no more than five seconds looking for any object. She had fun, but she found everything in the book in just a few minutes and as the pictures are extremely simple, there's hardly an reason to go back and look at them again.

Great books! I bought this one for Christmas for my 2 year old. We already had I Spy Letters and she loved that one, so it was a safe bet. We read through the story but she also points to all the other pictures and learns lots of new words. She's learning tons of new words through these books! Highly recommend.

The I Spy books were one of the first books my children bought at the school book fair and we would all look at them together. When they grew up and moved out they took their I Spy books with them as a memory keepsake. Now I am collecting them for my grandchildren who also are enjoying them! I try to buy them based on theme around a special day. My grandson is starting kindergarten so this is one of his birthday gifts.

Cunningham bases Cooking with Children on her experiences teaching youngsters both privately and in community center programs. What she learned about a child's capabilities, likes, and dislikes has been distilled into 15 basic lessons, all centered around a particular recipe. The first chapter, for example, entitled "Vegetable Soup," teaches how to peel and chop vegetables, how to sauté, how to be organized in the kitchen, and the difference between boiling and simmering. Chapter 6, "Pancakes and Popovers," teaches how to mix a batter, test the heat of a skillet, grease baking cups, and more. The instructions for each recipe are clear, detailed, and easy to follow. I bought this and 'look and cook' at the same time. This one is the one I am using. I love it's step by step instructions and it's little hints "A bowl of soapy water is your best friend... put your utensils in it and clean up will be easier" and the added instructions on HOW to cut things (to the point of 'hold the onion this way, then...') which makes it much easier even for me, as inept as I am, to teach my kids to make good dishes. My kids are not adventurous eaters by ANY MEANS. But we made the first recipe (Vegetable soup) and they enjoyed fishing crackers out of it and dipping breadsticks in it, though it is safe to say that they enjoyed the making of it (the cutting veggies especially) more than the actual eating. The next one is how to make salad and salad dressing which will NOT be a favorite, but we're going to do it anyway while the 'Let's Cook' is fun because it's novel. By the time that wears off, the book will have transitioned into hamburgers and meatloaf, lasagna and such that they will enjoy making AND eating so the new and exciting factor won't be the only thing holding their attention. If you want to teach kids to cook, I highly recommend this book. My oldest boy could probably read/do it himself (he's 8), but it's more fun for us all (3,5, 7,8) to do it together. Other kids 'cook books' that I've seen, included the other mentioned above, are just that... 'cook books' writen for children. This one is more of an instruction manual. So when we finish with this one, perhaps the others will have more appeal. Well worth the 'used' price I paid... probably worth the 'new' price as well. Highly recommended.

My boys are 7 and almost 10, and I'm ready for them to learn basic cooking skills. I bought this book and was not disappointed. So far we've made the vegetable soup and scones. The boys are delighted with the recipes and find the instructions easy to follow. I like the way the book is arranged, and love the fact that it's age appropriate without being condescending. My boys are already feeling more confident in the kitchen, which means I worry less and I suspect they'll also become a bit more open minded about new things if they are the ones cooking.

My SIL and I have been using this book as a basis for a group cooking class for our kids. They’re always excited and we adults are too. After using the author’s technique for hamburger patties - such a simple change - but I find I’m loathe to go back to the tough frozen hamburger hockey pucks of old. The baked rice was tasty and a revelation too.

My 11 and 8yr olds love reading through this. My 11 yr old made soup using this book. THere is a lot of good cooking instruction, like how to peel, cut, mix, etc. Each recipe may have several pages of instructions. I only gave it four because there weren't many recipes.

All three of my adult kids have this. Easy basics fir the non cooks. Don't let the "for children" part of the title put you off. A great beginning book for all ages.

My daughter home school's her son and has been using it for a cooking class and it has been great.

I used some of these ideas to teach a cooking class for. Hilren over the summer. The recipes were simple, interesting and tasty.

Your kids won't just be playing in the kitchen making faces out of fruit and cookies, they'll really be learning how to cook with this book. They'll be making real food, that you'd actually want them to eat, and that you would like to eat too. Definitely follow the age recommendations, it jumps right in with knife work and using the stove. Highest rating possible from my family.

My initial impression of AG Riddle's style after attempting to read two books (Departure and Atlantis Gene) is that he enjoys writing these kinds of stories a lot. Soon enough you realize however, that he is not capable of delivering on the initial excitement generated in the opening chapters. For example, he isn't a pro at either setting up the scenes adequately or following through with any sort of meaningful character development. You want the plot to move and it gets stuck about halfway through each of these two works. You end up feeling used by the author for his own satisfaction in luring you in as his reader without delivering the momentum to keep you entertained and interested. It was frustrating. With both of these, I just suddenly put the books down at about the halfway point and kind of perused the remaining pages to see if I could rekindle the desire to read on.I just couldn't. So sorry for the negative review. I liked the idea of what these books promised in terms of imaginative characters, unique technologies, and future-shocking humanity into thinking about it's development as an evolving species. Instead what I found was forgettable escapism that will no doubt appeal much more to those who prefer terminator stories with abundant action and not much thought behind them. I'm left disappointed.

This was a long read but I didn't want it to end. The story was a roller coaster ride with great characters. The balance and timing was well thought out; there wasn't too much of one character or too little either and the amount of page time given each issue or flashback or character seemed just right. I never once skipped over any scenes or dialogue. I kept looking forward to getting back to the story during the day when I was occupied with other things like regular life.The premise is chilling and somewhat disturbing. I know it's only fiction, BUT... Mr. Riddle made this scenario seem completely plausible in this day and age and that is frightening. Which made this story such a riveting one.

I had just come off of back-to-back reads of Station Eleven, a well-written post-apocalyptic novel that I really enjoyed. When I read the Kindle sample of Departure, I got no clue it had any of the same themes, but I did see hints of it in the Amazon description.The Kindle sample got into the action very quickly and drew me in, which I always appreciate. The book as a whole did that to a lesser degree. It goes off on long, boring tangents about science and technology that I did not enjoy very much. In fact, because I do much of my Kindle reading at bedtime, the start of one of those tangents was a cue to me that it was time to close the Kindle and go to sleep.If you are interested in time travel, science fiction themes, multiple timelines and such, you may very much enjoy this book. I did enjoy the book, and I really enjoyed parts of it (especially the immediately post-crash portion). However, coming off of Station Eleven, it was very obvious that, while this book has its moments, the writing came off weak overall in my opinion. When reviewing a book, I find it difficult not to (even subconsciously) compare the book I just finished with the one I'm reading now. Because I focus a lot on writing skill when I'm reading, the way a book is written is weighted perhaps heavier than some other elements.If you have trouble with suspension of disbelief, this is probably not your book. While the beginning is not all THAT out of the realm of possibility, it gets really unbelievable the more it goes on. I understand this is often part and parcel of a science fiction book, but the level to which it was taken in Departure fairly boggled my mind.Finally, as I am not a fan of the romance genre, I was a bit put off by the need to wrap everything in a pretty bow with a romance. This is not something I expect from a SF novel, and it felt a little too pat and engineered.

This is an incredible stand alone novel with a horrifying catastrophe, a thrilling series of plot turns and an exciting romance.If you're a fan of dystopian post-apocalyptic novels, then this one should be at the top of your "must read" list! I love that it doesn't require a full series of books to complete, so it's a great story that you know will have some type of conclusion.The characters were surprisingly in depth considering the nature of this genre. Usually action novels focus more on plot than character development, but a decent amount of attention was placed on making you care for these characters.Riddle has created a remarkable book that had my full attention from start to finish!

Great for both the new Catholic and the cradle Catholic. Full of information in an easy question and answer format.

I like the catechism, but it is not a hardcover. It is a paperback with a supposedly stiffer spine. And, it is for this reason they advertise it as hardback.

The Baltimore Catechisms are essential for any Catholic family to have to ensure their children are well-versed in their faith. This particular printing is of great quality. I have no complaints. These books will form the foundation of my family's education about their faith for years to come.

These are great for quick reference and definitions. Some of the responses do not seem to give actual answers or come off as oldschool, but for the most part they're great references/supplements to a faith formation class.
